Posted by Zane Johnston on Sep 25, 2012 | Comments (0)

The iconic nineteenth-century American tale Moby Dick by Herman Melville about a sailor, Captain Ahab,  bent on revenge against the infamous white sperm whale that took his leg, is coming to the stage and San Francisco.

In honor of the new Moby-Dick opera set to premiere at the San Francisco Opera House October 10,  Librettist Gene Scheer will discuss with San Francisco State University Professor Geoffrey Green the transformation of the classic novel from page to lyrical  musical theater.

Thar She Blows! From Page to Stage: Transforming Moby-Dick into an Opera happens at the  SF Opera Chorus Room October 8, 2012 from 6 pm to 8 pm; admission to the event is free.
