Abandoned Objects and Spaces as Memories at Alter Space

Posted by Zane Johnston on Jul 3, 2012 | Comments (0)

The latest exhibition at Alter Space transforms the walls of the gallery space by adding print and paint while creating the illusion of meandering through an old abandoned house.

In What’s Left Behind, the fictional dilapidated setting sets the stage for a conversation between the participating artists–who work in painting, drawing, sculpture and print–and the abandoned cultural artifacts and spaces that remain and continue on through memory  regardless of a cognizant human presence.

Exhibiting Artists include Zina Al-ShukriAlexis ArnoldWilliam Emmert, Julian Farmer-Bowers, Marcel R. Patzwald, Meghan Martin, Maja RuznicEsther Samuels-DavisCianna ValleyImin Yeh, and COLPA PRESS.

Featured along with the group exhibition will be a live performance from alt-folk, indie rock songstress Emily Jane White on July 27. For ticket information, and other events and performances happening as part of What’s Left Behind, which continues through August 19,   check the Alter Space page.
