This week’s top visual arts events include Playland 2012 at the Conservatory of Flowers, a new show at RVCA VASF, and Southern Exposure’s annual art auction, The Silver Era.
Playland 2012 opens at the Conservatory of Flowers this Tuesday and runs through Sunday April 15. Featuring real memorabilia and photographs, the family-friendly exhibit displays a garden railway that pays homage Playland, the ocean-front amusement park that was once on San Francisco’s West End.
RVCA VASF Gallery presents This Is Us, a group show, opening this Friday in the Haight. The show will feature individual work by the four members of the LA-based artists collective, This. The group shares puts forth work that’s meant to create an atmosphere of interaction.
This Saturday, Southern Exposure will hold their annual art auction and fundraiser, The Silver Era. Work from 150+ established and emerging artists will be available through both live and silent auctions, and, of course, tasty bites and libations will be served all night long. For a sneak peek, or in case you can’t make the event, The Silver Era Auction Preview Exhibition will be on display today through Thursday, from noon to 6pm at SoEx.
