Literary Events: Quiet Lightning, Jeanne Darst & More
This week’s top literary events include noir hip hop, Quiet Lightning’s 2 Year Celebration and fiction ruining families.
Famed music critic, Nelson George debuts The Plot Against Hip Hop this Thursday at City Lights. The noir novel mixes fiction with living hip hop legends like Jay-Z, Kanye West and Russell Simmons.
On Monday, Quiet Lightning celebrates their two year anniversary with Neighborhood Heroes at the BeatBox. The monthly reading series is a live mash-up of fiction, poetry and essays — after each show, the readings are published in a book.
Jeanne Darst presents Fiction Ruined My Family this Tuesday at Books Inc. in Opera Plaza. Darst’s humorous memoir is a sort of self-analysis, seeing what it means and takes to be a writer.
