This week’s best gallery openings range from Angela Willetts‘ human form to a modern Indian exhibit at YBCA.
This Thursday, celebrate the opening of Angela Willetts‘ new exhibit, Occupied: The Experience of Inhabiting a Body at a.Muse Gallery. The solo show will feature new ink and gouache paintings with playful colors and line details (above) that transform human body parts into interesting abstract forms.
On Friday, enjoy a massive 2 Blocks of Art. 50 local artists of all different styles will display their work in over 25 local businesses — all within 2 blocks (6th between Market St and Howard St). Get in on this unique, free art walk where this SOMA micro-hood gets some added sketchiness.
We suggest checking out 2 Blocks early, then jetting over to YBCA for The Matter Within. In addition to contemporary Indian sculpture, photography and video, Friday’s opening party will include several on-theme festivities like dance lessons from Non Stop Bhangra and an interactive Rangoli ceremony.
