Bag It: Is Your Life Too Plastic?

Posted by Kristian Richards on Jul 18, 2011 | Comments (0)

San Francisco’s Public Library offers up the chance to view a 2010 film festival favorite for free this evening with a screening of “Bag It.”

This feature-length documentary originated as simple look at the pros and cons plastic bags but later evolved into a full-blown survey of the negative effects of plastic bags on the environment – namely, the waterways, oceans and ourselves. Quite appropriate considering we’ve been the first city in the entire country to legally place a ban on the use of environmentally harmful plastic bags at big grocery and drug stores, no?

Directed by Susan Beraza, the Michael Moore style documentary seeks to examine the national problem of a “throwaway mentality” and includes information on regions around the country by following around Emmy award winner Jeb Berrier as he discovers some jarring facts.

Described as touching, informational and funny, Berrier provides viewers and chance to see the damage that’s been caused by our collective  ignorance and ways we can change the future of our planet.

The screening begins at 6:30. See the San Francisco Public Library site for more information.
